Exploring the harmony between humans and nature.
Ghost Tree is a nature-inspired project located in Griffith Park. The project explores environmental issues and how they can be translated into spatial design, creating a meaningful connection between people and nature.
Ghost Tree
Ghost Tree explores the connection between humans and nature through organic forms. It encourages people to slow down, relax, and reconnect with nature.

Inspiration - Ghost Tree
I want to raise awareness of tree loss and deforestation. I designed a tree-shaped sculpture that disappears when viewed from the front but becomes visible from other angles, symbolizing how trees are gradually disappearing from our world.

Inspiration - Fern Connection
I found a fern on the site that inspired me to connect nature with the pavilion. Its shape resembles a human spine, while the pavilion represents the brain. The fern becomes a bridge leading to the pavilion, symbolizing the spine transmitting signals to the brain. Visitors can meditate inside the pavilion and reconnect with themselves.

Inspiration - Water
Since water sounds can help people feel calm, I designed a circular water feature around the pavilion. The flowing water creates an immersive atmosphere, helping visitors relax and focus during meditation.

Design Progress (From Top View)
1 . Determine the functional zoning and basic form
2 . Incorporating the 2nd and 3rd platforms
3 . The shape of the bridge was inspired by the ferns found on the site
4 . Incorporating a ghost tree area and a water flow zone
Designed an installation that slices the form of a tree into countless fragments; when viewed from a specific angle, the tree appears to disappear.

BRIDGE : Fern-like bridge, which has transparent hollow on it, people can explore the view of the cliff
PLATFORM 1 : Place for people to have rest, meditation and enjoy the view of the landscape
PLATFORM 2 : Place for people to have "hug tree" activity
PLATFORM 3 : Platform which is not for the human, but the nature animals.
GHOSTTREE : The tree which can vanish

Fern-Inspired Bridge
The bridge connects the hillside to the pavilion, featuring organic forms inspired by the ferns observed during the site visit. Its flowing shape reflects the natural patterns of the surrounding landscape.

Ghost Tree
The central sculpture represents disappearing trees and the loss of natural plant life. While its tree-like form is visible from certain angles, it blends into the surrounding landscape when viewed from the front, symbolizing how nature can gradually disappear from our awareness.

Nature Relaxation Spaces
Two smaller platforms sit on either side of the main pavilion: one provides a resting spot for animals, while the other incorporates surrounding trees for visitors to practice tree hugging and reconnect with nature. The central pavilion offers a peaceful space for visitors to sit cross-legged, relax, and enjoy the natural surroundings.
